We Made It Back! A bit worn - but HOME!
Share
Eighteen days. 3,200 miles.
Mountains climbed, memories made, dogs that never quite settled, and a husband who’d rather suffer in silence than admit a hotel mattress is trying to kill him.
We made it back.
The first blog post was written in the stirrups—heart pounding, truck packed, hoping for something holy in the in-between. Now I’m writing this with a little less adrenaline and a whole lot more gratitude.
We left Texas chasing something.
Maybe rest. Maybe peace. Maybe a little of ourselves we hadn’t seen in a while.
I found mine somewhere between the hum of the highway and the hush of Idaho pine, mountains, and rivers.
I watched Ron do the hard thing—ride along with grace even when his body had every reason not to.
I watched our dogs try their best to adjust to a world that kept changing around every bend in the road.
There were quiet places.
Laughing-over-lunch places.
Places to remember those we lost.
And sacred spots where I let go of more than just the miles. Including tears of joy, laughter, frustration, and sorrow.
So, what now?
Now we unpack—literally and figuratively. There are bags to unload, pictures to post, and stories to tell.
There’s work to be done… but it’s different now. More rooted. More real. More me. And I can't wait to get back at it! This long trip has given me lots of time to think about this little spot. Expect to hear and see these name very soon: Cowgirl Town, NGNP 55/AM, No Grit No Pearl YouTube Channel and Podcast. Characters such as Opal, Western Wilma, Pearl Snap Peg, Lipstick, Dally, and a slew of others still "on the board". And of course you already know Songbird on the Wire boutique.
If you’re just finding me now, you can read the first part of our road trip adventure right here.
But if you’ve been riding alongside me for a while, thank you. You make this old road feel less - hard.
Now let’s get back to business, back to purpose, and back to Texas…with a little more Idaho in our hearts.
Love y’all———♥️🐝
